What you have to do

The purpose of this strand is to create a website (this one!) showing information about the team, and how the baloon launch worked, also in the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) part I have to take the images gathered from the baloon's camera, and use it to make some measurements between two points on the ground.
The more accurate the measurement made, the better!

What has been done

I have learned how to use the GIS mapping software to transform a RASTER (bitmap) image onto a VECTOR image of the same area of the university. To do this I used points to connect similar points on the two maps, and then used the software to scale and rotate and transform the RASTER image until the two images matched.
Had some trouble with getting the images to line up correctly as one of the course leaders had sneakily entered an incorrect point somewhere... so the RASTER map ended up looking like a mess; though eventually I found the point by looking at the rms error, which was highest for the incorrect map point.
