The Balloon Launch

Blue group was assigned the first balloon launch as the group had finished first. We set about moving the balloon to the launch site before then connecting the can which contained the candles (our source of heat) and also the camera attached. The actual initial launch was quite quick although there was some apprehension about whether or not the balloon would launch and how fast it would take for the balloon to inflate. Also the camera had to be switched on although it had a 30 second switch off device meaning the timing had to precise. Nevertheless besides the burden of being the first group to start the launch was actually quite successful. Our balloon stayed in the air for a decent time of 3 minutes 39 seconds only beaten by one group who packed an immense amount of candles into their tin. We also managed to take a decent series of photos for which the GIS team could locate to a position referenced on a map.
